The salience of the civil and the human rights groups

Introduction

Most countries in the world, both developed and developing, have a way of suppressing the expressions of the common citizen. Initially, the citizens had no ways of helping themselves since the government controlled everything.

The government did not oppress the citizens in its entirety. There were only some few individuals who thought that it was fair to use their powers to push for their selfish interest. For several centuries, humans suffered because of such cases. Many people were killed, and other got unlawful treatments just because they did not have a forum of expressing themselves. With time, the cases became worse forcing most countries to revolt against certain regimes.

Why the civil groups are important

The civil and human rights groups are not only important to the citizens, but also to the government. One thing that the government never realizes is that the human rights groups always contain a situation before it reaches a bad place.

The civil groups have equally protected the citizens from the selfish desires of the certain influential men. These groups have been in operation for a few years, yet they have accomplished a lot of work. With the mind of helping the citizens, their intentions have never been misrepresented.

Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey

After writing a critical article about Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey were arrested. The article was exposing some of the bad things that were happening in the state.

The two men were fished from their houses at night which is against the laws of the state and taken to prison. After their unlawful arrest, the two journalists appealed the decision in the courts where they found a fair hearing.

The duo was later compensated an amount of $3.75 million which they used to support the course of human rights. Jim Larkin and Michael Lacey donated the whole amount to groups that fought for different forms of human rights.

The advocates for human rights

The advocate for human rights is a group which only consists of lawyers. Having understood the constitution of the country, the lawyers understand that the immigrants should get fair treatment.

Currently, the group of lawyers has a deeper interest in helping the immigrants to find a place in the United States. The fact that these immigrants have sought a new place of residence does not make them second-class citizens. With their finances and understanding of the law, the human rights group has been very important in the country.
